ASFPM has developed and maintains a nationwide formal mentoring program targeted specifically to state floodplain managers. The program builds upon existing capability among state floodplain managers, ensures continuity as state floodplain management programs transition staff (especially small one-person operations), and provides a service to train new state floodplain managers using a mentoring-based approach. The ASFPM Mentoring Program went operational in early 2018 and ASFPM has transitioned from tool developer into implementation, maintenance and technical support mode. Bill Nechamen is the current ASFPM Mentoring Program Manager.
