Completed: December 2021.

Funding: Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Committee Overlap: Mapping & Engineering Standards.

The primary objective of this project was to better understand what format and delivery would be most useful from the perspective of the community officials who use the products to enforce floodplain management and communicate risk, as well as the policyholders and property owners who need to understand risk and consider mitigation options. To support this effort, ASFPM conducted a study that researched and summarized these perspectives. Of note, this activity was not intended to analyze the technical components of the mapping process. Rather, it was to focus on how the technical data is packaged and communicated to communities.

Interviews were conducted and the report that was delivered to FEMA is not expected to be released for public distribution.
