To support FEMA and the field of floodplain management as topics of importance related to the National Flood Insurance Program arise that need further evaluation and/or exploration in order to guide policy development, program development, technical assistance, etc.

ASFPM has a long history of convening and advocating for policies and programs that support and improve the National Flood Insurance Program and its primary programs of Mitigation, Floodplain Management, Mapping and Insurance as well as other National Policy issues related to flood impacts. Previous symposium topics included the transformation of the CAP-SSSE program, development of an NFIP premium estimator tool, support needs of small state floodplain management programs, and support needs around critical conversations at the state level. For each symposium held, a summary report will be created documenting the conversations held and any recommendations developed during the meeting.
