Together, ASFPM and CSO developed the Community Resilience Guide for Repetitive Flood Loss, a web-based guide that consists of GIS training, case studies, and other resources dedicated to assisting local floodplain managers with reducing repetitive flood losses in their communities. This guide was developed in response to a community needs assessment that was conducted in 2021 and identified a number of barriers that flood-prone communities are faced with, such as insufficient project funding, lack of GIS expertise, and sparse support from elected officials and the public. The Community Resilience Guide for Repetitive Flood Loss was designed to help local floodplain managers overcome these barriers and reduce repetitive flooding through its many resources, especially the training. Currently available is a self-paced GIS training that demystifies the process of mapping flood hazards using ArcGIS Pro Software. By the end of this training, learners should be able to perform a Repetitive Loss Area Analysis (CRS Activity 510), better understand their community's flood risk, and earn continuing education credits. In the future, ASFPM and CSO plan to develop additional training and resources to promote and improve the Community Resilience Guide for Repetitive Flood Loss.
