The goal of this project is to design, develop and implement a Community Flood Documentation platform that collects, stores and shares flood event data and documents as they relate to the immediate aftermath of a local flood event. The working name of the platform is the "Community Flood Notebook", which will support the submission of photos by the public (crowdsourced) and professional staff like floodplain managers. The platform is also being developed to support automated and manual collection of critical flood event data such as stream and tide gauges, precipitation data and more, all of which help tell the whole story of the flood event. The final platform will allow access to clients and users at the public, local, state, federal and administrative levels. The proposed business model would be for state agencies to host the platform for its communities allowing the public and professional staff to contribute content all aimed at reducing flood risk.
