Locations: Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve
Time: Wednesday, Oct 10, 2018, 7:30 AM - Wednesday, Oct 10, 2018, 3:00 PM
Details:

This NAI workshop focused on long-term planning and the legal and policy frameworks that impact the day-to-day activities of decision makers dealing with extreme weather and natural disasters in Florida coastal communities. The workshop gave participants the chance to work cooperatively using the CHARM tool to make simulated development and redevelopment decisions based on a variety of underlying hazard and natural resource data layers. The results of those decisions were immediately displayed in graphs and charts so participants were able to further refine their decisions to see new results.

CHARM or the Community, Health and Resource Management tool provides instant feedback to community planning options. CHARM helps communities see how planning decisions made today will impact tomorrow’s community through a participatory mapping approach with local community data including storm surge, high tide and flood hazard areas.
