The Association of State Floodplain Managers recently completed a study that researched current procedures for mapping floodways and analyzed how these procedures are aligned with the original intent of the regulatory floodway. This assessment reviewed the origin, use and establishment of regulatory floodways and provides an assessment as to whether FEMA's current methodology for mapping and revising regulatory floodways supports the original intent of the floodway.
